Very appropriately Time Magazine named “The Protester” the person of the year 2011; “In 2011, protesters didn’t just voice their complaints; they changed the world.”
New Banksy! Banksy’s “Cardinal Sin” sculpture, a copy of an 18th century stone bust which face has been replaced with tiles to copy the pixellation effect used on TV to prevent identification of victims of sex crime, has been displayed for the first time at the Walker Art Gallery in Liverpool. Banksy strongly implied that Cardinal Sin is a comment on the sexual abuse of children by Catholic priests. “At this time of year it’s easy to forget the true meaning of Christianity – the lies, the corruption, the abuse.”
This week we have been engaged with Mary Portas’ Report on the High Street as well as the government commissioned research “Understanding High Street Performance” released alongside it. Received with mixed reviews, we hope the report will bring with it some much needed action as an answer to the problems.. Her 28 recommendations are very interesting.
